Gotta love Ukranian Fashion Week. Sure, Paris may have the glamour and New York may have the glitz, but Ukraine? They have the weird.

The proceedings kicked off in Kyiv last Thursday, with a host of Ukrainian designers showing off their fall/winter 2010–2011 designs. (Insert joke about how it’s always fall or winter in Ukraine here: ___________.)

And so we embark on an Eastern Bloc-themed “Caption This.” Put on your pithy blurb caps and take to the comments with your best one-liners. I will now give you a little push:

+ Johnny Weir impressions are huge for fall 2010.

+ Note to self: Iron-pipes are not viable replacements for actual wings.

+ Maybe if I don’t turn around he’ll just fly away.

For all the fashion, the anthems and the fierceness, the real engine behind Lady Gaga’s success has been her tireless work ethic. And despite the fact that the woman can put out a nine-minute video that pretty much stops the Internet in its tracks, and despite the fact that her debut album is a multiplatinum juggernaut, Gaga keeps on trucking.

The “Bad Romance” star has just announced she’s added an additional 31 shows to her Monster Ball tour. In the last few weeks Gaga has been playing gigs in the United Kingdom and New Zealand and introducing new stage sets, costumes and dance routines to her live repertoire. So it’s great news that U.S. fans will get to experience the whole thing this summer.

If I may put on my Debbie Downer wig for a moment, however, maybe this is all getting to be a bit much. I don’t mean I’m getting tired of Gaga, by any means. If anything, she continues to be a totally revelatory, totally fun pop icon who is only growing more confident and unique.

But with recent reports of Gaga nearly collapsing onstage in Auckland, New Zealand, and just the sheer amount of work she does evident to anyone who follows her, aren’t we in danger of seeing her burn out? With this new tour announced, recording already begun on her follow-up to The Fame and the distinct possibility of a headlining slot at this summer’s Lollapalooza, maybe she’s pushing herself too hard.

Hey, I’m only bringing it up because I hope she has a long, healthy and incredible career. There’s only one Lady Gaga; I just hope she doesn’t work herself into early retirement!

On any given day you can log on to Twitter and see any number of trending topics: #musicmonday, #dontyouhateitwhen, #howtheheckdoesgooglewavework and so on. But pretty much any time you log on, you’re pretty much guaranteed to see one name in there, one person who never strays from the random thoughts of the millions of tweeters worldwide: Justin Bieber.

According to The Canadian Press (which is like the Associated Press … except it’s Canadian), Justin Bieber was the most tweeted about topic on the social networking/microblogging platform last week. And if that weren’t enough, the “Baby” singer has been catching up with Twitter all-stars such as President Barack Obama and the (sadly) even more popular Ashton Kutcher in terms of followers, accruing 11,000 more per day on average.

According to Ingo Muschenetz of the Web traffic site What The Trend, even Bieber’s detractors help him tighten his grip on the the collective-tweeting consciousness, “The haters … tweet about the fact that he’s trending, which only makes him trend higher.” Catch-22, that hating business.

Still, not everyone has fallen under the Bieb’s magical spell. Lily Allen recently tweeted, “i had no idea who this #justinbieber person was, just found out he’s that kid that’s always on the tv when im in the gym. he’s about 5 right?” But she still tweeted about him! Even oblivious Brit pop stars can’t help perpetuating Bieber’s inevitable Twitter takeover. I, for one, welcome our new teen-pop overlord. The zeal of Justin Bieber fans (or, Bielibers) on Twitter is far more fun to watch than #thingscheaterssay.

Nash is prepping her second album, My Best Friend Is You, for an April release. The follow-up to her 2007 debut, Made Of Bricks, her new album is supposedly full of girl-group-goodness, courtesy of Nash and producer Bernard Butler, who’s worked with Duffy.

In this chat, Nash talks about “Do Wah Doo,” and its wonderful video, which was shot on a plane in an aviation museum. We also learn about Nash’s sister, Clare, who, along with designer Gemma Slack, has been instrumental in constructing Kate’s look.

+ Fresh off displaying their magnetic chemistry and attraction to the great outdoors in their “Make A Wave” video, Demi Lovato kinda sorta confirmed that she was dating Joe Jonas this weekend. Lovato claims Joe is a “complete gentleman,” and later tweeted, “Find someone who finds you beautiful with no makeup while wearing sweatpants … you’ll never feel more loved.” As someone who regularly rocks sweatpants and no makeup, I actively look forward to finding this kind of person. + Maybe she wasn’t wrapped in crime scene tape or wearing sunglasses by Marlboro like Lady Gaga, but Beyoncé really did her thing in the “Telephone” video. The proof? Honey, the proof is in the GIFs! (Idolator)

+ In other Lady Gaga news, if you ever wondered how her various elaborate outfits went over with the fine folks of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), then I have your answer: NOT WELL. Apparently Gaga got into a little bit of a standoff with L.A.X. authorities when they demanded she remove some of her accessories. She declined and was subsequently treated to a 15-minute body search. (LimeLife)

+ Jay-Z has opened up about Lil Wayne’s surprise, pre-jail appearance at Hov’s Madison Square Garden show earlier this month. Really, it was just a matter of luck, with Wayne in town for sentencing at the same time Jay’s Blueprint 3 tour hit the Big Apple, “How that worked out, he was supposed to go away for a year. Somehow he was able to perform that last show. He came out to an incredible reaction.” (MTV News)

The funeral is set for Tuesday in Toronto and Feldman will not be in attendance.  The 38-year-old actor states, “In the days following my best friend Corey Haim’s death, I have spent much time with his mother Judy, who has always been like a mother to me.”

“I would love nothing more than to be by her side at Corey’s funeral, however, due to their strong religious beliefs and need for privacy, the family has decided to make Corey’s funeral on Tuesday a small private affair.

“Understanding the recent media attention and to be respectful of the family’s wishes, I have decided not to attend.

“Instead, I will remain in Los Angeles quietly mourning and planning his memorial.  As a sign of respect, I am asking the media to honor Corey Haim by making the same choice. I am working with a few people who were close to Corey to put a memorial together within the next month. At that time, the media will be invited to honor and celebrate the legacy he has left behind, along with friends, fans and the rest of the Hollywood community.”

Sadaf Fayyaz

The film’s title is definitely inspired from Dulal Goha’s 1975 film “Pratiggya”, starring Dharmendra and Hema Malini. The song was sung by late Mohammad Rafi and shot on Dharmendra and Hema. Samir Karnik intends to record a remix version of the Mohammad Rafi hit, has introduced a new composing duo Nouman Javaid and Rahul Seth. Upon asking Nouman Javaid, he replied,

“Samir Karnik, who is the director of the film he heard my songs and he approached me and asked me if I wanted to do the film as music director as he was looking for a new fresh sound. He loved my past songs “Dard-e-tanhai” and “Mein chala” plus he loved the voice texture I have so he made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.

There are some singers who are singing some other songs of the film they are there but no one is working with me. It is a big step Mashaallah and I am very happy and enthusiastic about it as I really want to see myself on the top of the music world as a successful singer/composer who is making a lot and I mean a lot of money.” added Nouman genially.

“Dharmendra Jee, Sunny & Bobby they all love my songs and even they are very excited about the music release which will be later this year in October or November.  InshALLAH with my songs and videos. There is another Pakistani singer who would be singing for me in the film.  As I am the only Pakistani singer who has actually given someone else a chance to sing on a scale this big not because he is my friend because he is a very talented person.  I am doing what I preach that is support your own talent and give them the respect they deserve.”

As a follow-up to Disney’s critically acclaimed nature film, Earth, the studio will be releasing Oceans. And to promote what will undoubtedly be an incredible cinematic adventure into the mysteries of the deep, Disney enlisted two of the world’s foremost oceanographers, Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato.

I kid! The Sonny and Cher of Disney have actually teamed up for the single “Make A Wave,” a lush ballad celebrating all the glories of the world’s oceans.

Joe and Demi are pretty cute, but they’ve got their work cut out for them here, going up against a veritable who’s who of the cutest of ocean dwellers. I mean, Demi Lovato vs. a sea otter?

Sorry, Lovato, YOU LOSE! Joe Jonas? He may be the dream date of millions of girls, but can he jump out of the sea and do a 360-degree twirl like a dolphin? I don’t think so.

The video is supercute and full of adorable pop stars singing and sea creatures doing their sea creature business.

Disney’s Oceans is in theaters April 22.

Noori is the new Walls Ambassador!

The grand surprise is finally out! noori has signed up with Walls as their brand ambassadors for the year 2010 and this merger is celebrated by a brand new song accompanied by a video!

“Jhoom Lay” has been composed by noori in collaboration with noted music director Shuja Haider. The lyrics have been penned by Mr. Irfan Khan who is the Executive Creative Director for Lowe and Rauf. With this song, noori makes a comeback to the mainstream after a prolong hiatus and the band will actively pursue to reach out to the widest possible audience by some fabulously catchy tunes and vidoes.

Jhoom Lay is the first step towards that direction. The video, which is shot in Bangkok by Ahsan Rahim, is easily noori’s biggest to date. The plot of the video revolves around two brothers who are portraying the two flavours of Walls Cornetto. Ali Hamza gets the spotlight this time around. Contrary to his image, he is portrayed as the fun loving character whereas the Ali Noor, who is usually the face of the band, gets to portray the mature serious one.

Education & Background:

CA for a year and then switched to the International Foundation Program affiliated to the University of York this September.

Inspiration:

Nirvana, Pantera and things I wanted to become.

How got interested in music:

I used to be this shy, chubby kid who was glued to his video games for weeks. My parents thought it would be good for me to join some kind of club or class in the afternoon to get out more. Luckily, there were some guitar lessons available in my school. That’s how it all began. I still remember how I reluctant I was with the whole idea back then.

Motivation:

It is the constant process of questioning my abilities.

Music Training:

Sarmad Ghafoor of Qayaas taught me a lot in ISP. I learnt to read guitar tabs in our classes and a lot of Nirvana songs since I was never really interested in learning any chords or scales. Maybe that’s something I should think about learning now.

Music for me:

It is a medium to civilly wash off the frustration building within.

Favorite Musicians:

Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, Phil Anselmo of Pantera and Dave Mustaine of Megadeth.

Expectations being an artist:

To continue learning something new about the art while keeping in pace with my perception

of the ideas around me.

Biggest Desire:

To replace the narrow idea of life I used to have within me.
